Description

1. Jamie Hewlett - Hewlett is probably the first illustrator I started following in a serious way back before I started my career. He's the illustrator behind the Gorillaz artwork and characters as well as the old Tank Girl comics.

2. Stephen Bliss and Anthony MacBain - These two are best known for the GTA IV promotional artwork on the game cover and preload screens. They really got me interested in digital painting and were the driving force behind my decision to buy my first Wacom tablet in 2003.

3. SockMonkee (aka Chris) - I don't know too much about this guy but he had a big influence on me in vector art. This loose illustrative style reignited my previously dead interest in doing vector art.

4. Tomasz Opasinski - If you've ever gone to a movie theater you've probably seen a movie poster Tomasz has done. He's the man you go to for that kind of work, with movies like Hellboy, The Italian Job, and most SAW films to his credit. A lot of the photo manipulations in my portfolio are inspired by his work.

5. Patrick Brown - I just love his style of characters. I used to think he did this stuff all in Adobe Illustrator because his line art is so refined, and that made it all the more impressive when I learned it was done in Photoshop with a tablet.

6. Serge Birault (aka PapaNinja) - As I move more toward refining my digital painting, Serge's artwork (which I first saw when I started subscribing to ImagineFX) is a standard I definitely look up to.

7. Dave Hill - I'm not a photographer by any stretch of the imagination, but Dave Hill's hyper-realistic, epic style of photography has influenced a lot of my stuff.

8. Von Glitschka - I'm a graphic designer first and an illustrator second. Von, whose a self described "illustrative designer" from Portland, was someone who I looked up to as a graphic designer for many years and taught me a lot about creativity and how to merge design and illustration into one cohesive skill set.
